It’s been a challenging six months of hard work and hustle and I’m looking forward to winding down for the summer holidays and taking some time out for mental and physical rejuvenation!
The year so far has been incredible….
We started 2019 having reached a milestone of 1000 followers on the @ChurchfieldRdW3 Instagram.
This spurred me on to launch W3Women, a network for female entrepreneurs, creatives and community minded women, set up to create commercial and social opportunities in Acton. Since January, the network that has grown from strength to strength, we have delivered four successful events and currently has over 200 sign ups to the mailing list.
Members of the W3Women network went on to launch a W3 Open House Shopping Trial in May 2019, which saw 12 brands showcase their work in 5 homes to over 100 shoppers, seeding an idea for a more organised and larger event later in the year. Watch this space!
As many of you know, Social By Max is the hustle of my foodie other half Massimo Di Paola, Launched last year it continues to go from strength to strength. The last one saw us take over the kitchens at the Rocket and was the biggest one yet. The next one is set to be a sell out so make sure you’re signed up to the newsletter to be notified when tickets go on sale….Stay tuned!
The HUSTLE continues….
In June 2019, I launched Knnected Workshops, to help small businesses GROW. Launched as a four part series, I’ve since added one day courses for time poor, cash strapped entrepreneurs. Dates are available from September. If you’re looking to give your business a boost, post summer, please do look into it here.
Last but not least,
As most of you know, Jewel Goody and I recently launched Acton Unframed, a campaign to bring world class street art to Acton W3. We’ve managed to gain all the right attention for this project, currently being crowdfunded on Spacehive, it has had pledges from 140 people including Ealing Council and The Mayor of London. We’re currently at 70% funded and hope we will get further community support to complete the round and make the idea of putting Acton on the map a firm reality!
I’d like to thank all of you who have supported the Acton W3 initiatives. It’s not always been easy! When you put your head above the parapet, you open yourself up to scrutiny and criticism, more than once I’ve threatened to through in the towel! But rest assured, I’m committed to the mission! The upside is I continue to learn and GROW, I meet new people everyday, I see imaginations being sparked and seeds of ideas being planted, I’m never bored… and this is reward enough!
If the last 12 months have been about laying the foundations, the next 12 will be about building the blocks. I truly believe, if Acton Unframed is successful, through your support, efforts and collaborations we can create positive and lasting change in our neighbourhood!
Please PLEDGE and share, it won’t happen unless you do!
